Dear Friends & Colleagues,

A  list of my activities is presented here under seven sections for the period 2010-2011. They mostly honorary services to Griffith University and other honorary services to the universities, journals and the Southeast Asian Geotechnical Society and Association of Southeast Asian Geotechnical Societies. Sincere thanks are due to all those who helped me to carry out these activities. In Geotechnical Engineering a good team spirit and a highly dedicated critical mass is necessary to be active.

Section 1:    Doctoral Research: It includes details two doctoral students completed of which I was Supervisor for one and co-supervisor for the second. Additionally, I am supervising or co-supervising three students now. I help the school in attracting students.

Section 2:    Publications: Has one in each 2010 and 2011 in Journals. It can be more; an area where improvement can be made; at present there are many constraints to overcome. All my publication at Griffith since 2002 has valuable assistance from Doctoral and Masters Students; now their numbers are extremely low. I have a large amount of material to publish and must try and work hard.

Section 3:    One Keynote Address was given in Taipei in May 2010; it was well received. Sincere thanks to Dr. Za Chieh Moh and Prof. Chung Tien Chin and Southeast Asian Society for this invitation.

Section 4:    Review of articles for Journals: Reviewed Articles for the Soils & Foundation Journal of the Japanese Geotechnical Society; Canadian Geotechnical Journal of the Canadian Geotechnical Society; Clay Mineralogy Journal of Elsevier, Netherlands;  Journal of Korean Society of Civil Engineers and Kasetsart University Journal in Thailand

Section 5:    Regular Workshops and Short Courses are conducted for Professional Engineers. These are conducted by really outstanding academics and Engineers on international and national standing and at post-graduate level comparable to Masters  & Doctoral Degree Courses. They were held in February, April, July, September, and November-December 2010. The floods in early 2011 and lack of support staff made it difficult to continue; one will be held in November 2011. Sincere thanks to so many distinguished persons who visited Griffith University and gave lectures. Their bio-data are in the annexure.

Sections 6:   In May 2010, the Southeast Asian Geotechnical Society and the Association of Geotechnical Engineers of South East Asia requested me to become the Editor in Chief of the Geotechnical Engineering Journal.  I am thankful to do so, as I was associated with these Societies since 1973 as Secretary General and also President for a very long period from 1973 till 2001 and there after from here. We also changed the Journal content to be these oriented and each theme to have Guest Editors. These details are in Section 6. The Journal is ever since published in time and the December 2011 issue will be released in time. We now have Guest editors till 2014. The Journal content and bio data of the guest editors are in Annexures. Sincere thanks to SEAGS-AGSSEA, AIT, Dr. Ooi Teik Aun, Prof. Bergado, and Senior persons in SEAGS, and in  particular the Guest Editors. Their biodata are attached.

Section 9:    Section 9:  Panel of Judges: AIT Hall of Fame: Fortunate to serve as a member of the Panel of Judges which include Prof. Alastair M .North, past-President of AIT (Chairman), Dr. Za Chieh Moh, past Vice President & Provost, Prof. Sunji Murai, Prof. Prida Wibulswas and myself. The first batch of Inductees for 2010 includes: Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, Dr. Subin Pinkayan (1961), Prof. Srisakdi Charmonman (1962), Prof. Anat Arbhabhirama (1962), Prof. Tongchat Hongladaromp (1962), Prof. Ricardo Pama (1964), Dr. Shamsuddin M.
